Accessory Building

By on August 8, 2019

An accessory building refers to a secondary building constructed for purposes that the main building does not serve.

Common accessory buildings in residential real estate include sheds, garages, green houses, pump houses, etc.

It goes without saying that there must be considerable land area to erect accessory buildings.

This also means that apartments and terrace houses would not be able to have them.

Something important to note is that when buying property that include an accessory building, the offer to buy should include details of the extra building being part of the transaction.

Otherwise, they might be removed by a seller as they might not be considered as part of the property. This also depends on how they are affixed to the land.
