Bidadari New Estate For Residential Homes – Bidda what?
As the public discussions shift into high gear on the latest White Paper published on plans for Singapore, there is one question that everyone is asking.
Where on earth is Bidadari?
In the past, all we need to know to familiarize with Singapore housing estates is just to know the names of MRT stations. Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh, Bishan, Jurong, etc. It was so easy and straight forward then. Now there are so many names going around that it becomes very confusing just to locate where exactly a particular estate is located. You will be excused if you have absolutely no idea where are places like Rumbia, Bakau, Dakota, Senja, etc.
Bidadari is an area identified by the government to build a new residential housing estate. 11,000 new homes are planned for this new estate. It might help you to determine where this area is by mentioning that it is near Woodleigh MRT station on the North East Line.
What is Woodleigh?
It is an area located between Serangoon MRT and Potong Pasir MRT on the North East Line. Now that vintage areas like Serangoon and Potong Pasir are mentioned, you will probably be able to estimate where exactly is Bidadari.
f you are a driver and knows the roads in Singapore well, Upper Serangoon Road and Upper Aljunied Road runs along the new Bidadari estate. It could also take up the immediate land area along Braddel Road and Bartley Road on the side of Woodleigh MRT. Bidadari used to be a cemetary.

If you were house hunting in recent months and went down to take a look at the Bartley Residence show flat, or any of the show flats in Potong Pasir, you will very likely see a lot of open land space. The land you see in the surroundings are probably where the new homes of Bidadari will be built.
Among the 3 new towns of Tampines North, Tengah and Bidadari mentioned in the White Paper report, Bidadari looks like the best location unless you are a superstitious person. NEX mall at Serangoon is just minutes away, so is the Central Expressway (CTE), Kallang-Payalebar Expressway (KPE) and Pan Island Expressway (PIE).
Not to mention that Woodleigh and Potong Pasir MRT stations are within walking distance.
There is even a flyover that goes straight to Kovan. But traffic congestion are frequent on the 2 main roads. And with the bus interchange terminal being built in Potong Pasir, the traffic is not expected to let up. Let’s just hope that this addressed by the authorities.
Look familiar?
So if you qualify for HDB BTO flats, you might want to check out the homes being planned for this area before buying a condominium that is located within 100m from this site. It could very well be better value than to buy a seemingly overpriced condominium in the area.
