Bequest

By on February 23, 2019

A bequest refers to a gift of personal property made to another person by terms of a will.

This is not to be confused with real property as that act is legally termed as devise.

For example, one can receive jewelry as a bequest from an uncle who passed away.

And a house as a devise from an aunt under her instructions for conveyance.

In practice, to bequeath is commonly used to describe a gift by will, for both personal property and real property.
