Bottomland refer to low-lying land areas that are prone to flooding.

The tendency for flooding is attributed to the lowland site being located near streams, rivers, bodies of water, or even in a valley.

While it might seem crazy for residents to want to live in such an area, these types of land have commercial value especially to agriculture farmers.

Because of the landscape, these lands can be rich with soils filled with nutrients that help crops grow faster.

As such, the constant flooding is a trade-off they are willing to make.
